We buy timber by assortment. Volumes, quality requirements and delivery terms are agreed based on the material and volume. Our larger partners include Stora Enso Eesti, Estonian Plywood, Holmen Mets AS and Estonian Cell.

Buying regions: Tartu, Jõgeva and Viru counties

A stack of logs at the forest edge, stems laid with their ends facing one way.

What we buy

We buy roundwood from roadside stacks, landings or directly from harvesting sites. The price depends on species, assortment, quality, volume and the location of the material.

  • Softwood sawlogs: pine and spruce
  • Hardwood sawlogs and veneer logs: birch and aspen
  • Pulpwood for pulp and paper production
  • Firewood and lower-grade roundwood
  • Smaller volumes from individual sites as well as regular supply

How the price of timber is determined

The price of timber depends on assortment, species, quality, volume and location. We assess what share of the stack meets the requirements for sawlogs, pulpwood, firewood or other assortments.

  • Assortment and tree species affect the price of timber.
  • Stem dimensions, straightness and quality determine which assortment the timber meets.
  • Knots, decay and other defects affect timber quality and its possible end use.
  • The location of the stack and access conditions affect haulage.
  • Volume and regularity of supply affect purchasing and logistics.
  • Distance to the receiving point affects transport costs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum volume you buy?

We buy both smaller and larger volumes of timber. A suitable volume depends on the assortment, location of the material and collection options. Send us the approximate volume and location, and we will confirm whether we can arrange the purchase.

How is the volume measured?

The measurement method is agreed before delivery and stated in the contract. Depending on the assortment and delivery terms, the timber may be measured at the roadside stack or at the receiving point.

Does the seller’s forest have to be certified?

No, the seller’s forest does not have to be certified to sell timber to us. If the forest or timber is PEFC or FSC certified, let us know in your inquiry, as this affects how the material is handled further along the supply chain.

Who arranges the haulage?

We usually arrange the haulage. If you arrange transport yourself, we agree the delivery terms separately.
