How the price of wood chips is determined
The price of wood chips depends mainly on moisture content, energy content, material quality, volume and location. We also consider the origin of the material, particle size distribution and delivery terms.
- Moisture content affects the energy content of the wood chips and therefore their value.
- Contaminants such as soil, stones and sand reduce the quality of the wood chips.
- Tree species and the origin of the material affect the properties of the wood chips.
- Access to the storage site and haulage distance affect transport costs.
- Material quality and contamination affect how the wood chips can be used and their value.
- Particle size distribution and chipping quality affect the suitability of the material.
- Volume and delivery frequency affect purchasing and logistics.
- Season and storage conditions affect the moisture content and quality of the material.
